Its different engines range from 782cc to 1430cc and from 34hp to 160hp. The name R5 originally comes from the TL with its 5hp engine. It was the best-selling car in France from 1974 to 1983. It was as much a city car as a sports car with its Turbo, Alpine, Alpine Turbo, Turbo 2 and coupé versions. It even had its own electric version thanks to a collaboration with EDF for a top speed of 80 km/h and a range of 110 km.
